For centuries the men and women of Sardinia have carefully preserved and passed on their knowledge, acting as guardians of nature: in recent years this role of protector has almost ceased to exist. That is why we have created the “Custodi della Terra” (Guardians of Nature) mark of quality to bring together agricultural businesses from the island that are true ambassadors of Mediterranean style. They have come together with the common aim of becoming “Guardians” of the indigenous grape varieties and local specialities, such as oils and breads, which are the region’s pride and joy, and cornerstones of the Mediterranean diet and way of life. A way of life made up of skills, knowledge, techniques and traditions applied from the field to the table and encompassing the cultivation, harvesting, fishing, conservation, treatment, preparation, and especially the consumption of food.
The Custodi della Terra (Guardians of Nauture) project aims to protect, to promote and to present - locally, nationally and internationally – Sardinia’s unique island style in its many facets, through the authentic protagonists and advocates of all that is “Made in Sardinia”.
All of the Sardinian agribusinesses that have adhered to the project are striving to become “Guardians” of the indigenous grape varieties and local specialities which are the region’s pride and joy. They are also cornerstones of the Mediterranean Diet, which is now part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
We transmit our values and professionalism to the people who enjoy our products each day. Sardinia’s many visitors are looking for exclusive and engaging experiences with us, allowing guests from near and far to get to know the region during proactive holidays.
The Mediterranean diet is much more than a simple combination of foods. It is a blend of skills, knowledge, techniques and traditions applied from the field to the table and encompassing the cultivation, harvesting, fishing, conservation, treatment, preparation, and especially the consumption of food.
